Our Approach

Learning Periods

During these periods, students work in their French or Mathematics workbooks. Teachers and staff members are available to provide support and help students make progress. To maintain an environment that promotes concentration and learning, students are encouraged to limit coming and going between breaks. Our goal is to help students gradually develop greater independence and learn to manage and follow their schedule.

Shared Decision-Making

At École du Milieu de LaSalle (EDML), we believe that involving students in decision-making helps strengthen their sense of belonging, their engagement in their educational journey, and their motivation. Our shared decision-making meetings follow an agenda that includes planning meals for the week, choosing activities for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, sharing important information, and helping students set SMART goals for the week.Students are also encouraged to suggest topics to be added to the agenda.

Living and Learning Together

  • At École du Milieu de LaSalle (EDML), we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
  • No form of violence, bullying, or harassment—whether verbal, physical, psychological, or online—is tolerated.
  • Our community guidelines are developed together with students when they join EDML. They are introduced during the admission process and revisited throughout the year as needed.
  • EDML is a true safe space where every student can be themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.

Attendance

Student engagement and regular attendance are essential to academic progress. Absences and late arrivals must be communicated to the EDML team and explained. When attendance becomes a concern, the student will meet with the team to discuss the situation and determine the best way forward regarding their continued participation. If a student is going to be absent or late for any reason, they must inform the EDML team as soon as possible. If a student arrives at EDML after 9:00 a.m., the team may meet with them to identify solutions and strategies that can help improve regular attendance.

Take action and make your mark.
